Introduction
Accept telebirr, M-Pesa and Ethiopian bank payments with one API.
Zoorya Pay is a payment gateway for Ethiopian businesses. Your server creates a one-time payment link for an order and sends the customer to it. Your customer picks how to pay — telebirr, M-Pesa or their bank — and Zoorya Pay handles the payment. Your server then confirms the result with a second call.
You never handle the customer's PIN, OTP or bank details.
Who this is for#
- Developers adding payments to a website, app or backend.
- Businesses that already have a Zoorya Pay merchant account and want to automate payments.
Get started in 6 steps#
- 1
Create a sandbox account
Sign up on the sandbox merchant portal. It takes a few minutes, needs no documents, and gives you test money. See Create an account.
- 2
Get your API key
In the portal, open Developer → API keys and create a key. Your server logs in with it to get a token. See Get your API keys.
- 3
Take a test payment
Create a payment link, pay it with test money, and confirm it from your server. See Your first payment.
- 4
Build it into your app
Follow the recommended pattern so you only ship orders that are really paid.
- 5
Handle webhooks
Let Zoorya Pay tell your server when a payment finishes, instead of asking again and again. See Handling webhooks.
- 6
Go live
Register your business on production, wait for approval, then switch your API key and base URL. See Go live.
